No fence - Wall is torn down amid celebration

Cypriots in line to cross townCyprus has been officially divided since July 1974, when forces from Turkey invaded the northern portion of the island after fears that Nikos Sampson, a president installed after a coup, would seek reunification with Greece. The northern part of the island has been governed as the independent Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus since February 1975. Only Turkey recognizes its sovereignty.

On April 3, 2008, the wall was torn down after more than 40 years. The Cypriots and Turks were celebrating. This image shows Cypriots in line to walk to the other side of the city for the first time in many years. It’s an important event. It should be an indicator for Americans considering building a fence between Mexico and the United States.

The illegal alien issue is important to me. I live in Houston and have seen Houston change dramatically since I was a child. We must stop illegal immigration, but a fence is not the solution. The current administration has not seriously tried to control and stop illegal immigration. The illegal aliens are important to many industries such as residential and commercial construction, restaurant industry, janitorial services and much more. The immigration of illegal aliens can be stopped with enforcement of existing legislation whenever our government decides it’s time.

No fence! A fence is not the answer.
